This web site is a psuedo-database of crimes reported in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It is not affiliated with the City of Ypsilanti Police Department or with Google Maps. YPSI Crime was a joint project of the Historic East Side Neighborhood Association and the Historic South Side Neighborhood Association.

This site was inspired by the ground-breaking ChicagoCrime.org web site developed by Adrian Holovaty. Any similarities will hopefully viewed in the same light as the George Harrison "My Sweet Lord" / Ronald Mack "He's So Fine" copyright infringement case of years past.

The data used here is supplied by the Ypsilanti Police Department on a weekly basis to various news outlets such as the Ann Arbor News and Ypsilanti Courier. This information is typically used for police blotters. The data used for YPSI MAPS // Crime comes through Ypsi CoPAC liasons. The liasons receive the data directly from the Ypsilanti Police Department.

YPSI MAPS // Crime makes no claims to the accuracy of the data. The data consists of reports filed with the Ypsilanti Police Department.

Because the Ypsilanti Police Department, out of respect for those involved, does not release specific addresses, crimes are reported using the begininning of each block as a location for reporting purposes.

For example, if a crime was reported at 212 W. Main Street, the site will map the reported crime at 200 W. Main Street. This happens to be the beginning of 200 block of West Main Street.
